Got to love her....

My wife finished deorating/overhauling our living room into a more formal type setting last year. She only conceded that I could small bookshelf speakers in the room. No other elctronics!
My daughter and I both usually keep our acoustic guitars on stands in there and she thought they looked nice, a "parlour" look she said.
Anyway, I was laid up a bit recently and sort of moved my '66 Blackface Champ up into the room next to my leather chair. She didn't say a word but now that i'm back up and around I figured she'd be sending me back to the music room. To my surprise, she told me this weekend that she like the look of the amp in the room and that it could stay just the guitar had to be out of sight! I thougth the amp looked good to but I guess I am a little biased here. Anyway, I'm very happy!

She sounds like a wonderful lady. Play her a song...low volume please. "Mama don't allow no distortion in the parlor, Mama don't alow no distortion in the parlor"....

My wife did a similar thing after we finished redecorating the living room. We have an unused fireplace and she suggested I hang a guitar over it:

My wife surprised me a few weeks ago too...

My band rehearsal have always been relagated to the garage...which is fine. We have a 2 1/2 car garage that is not attached to the house...about 50 feet behind the house. We don't park in it...so it's always been "mine".

But...it gets cold out there this time of year...

Joel Terry and I are starting up a new project, and I was talking to my wife about having to push rehearsals off until at least aerly spring...due to the cold.

She says, "Why not just use the big room?"

The "big room" is a 30' x 35' room on the back of our house that was added after the house was originally built (although it was there when we bought the home). We have no kids, and rarely have guests, so we just keep that room closed off and turn all of the vents off. My wife only opens it up for special occasions. So when she suggested that I use it, I was stunned.

"Are you sure? You do realize what you're agreeing to, right?"

She understands, and is totally cool with it. That room has always been hers, but we never use it. So now I get to put it to good use!

I began moving my gear in last weekend....and began moving her stuff out!

Bring it on Joel.

Well it's great to see I'm not alone in the "great wife" department. Another amazing thing is my wife is probably more fluent musically then I am. She plays piano and reads music well, the kicker being we don't even have a piano in the house and she rarely plays anymore. There is a small keyboard (cheapie Casio) in my daughter's room but she only gets on that to do something for me or show the girls something.

Maybe she's setting me up for the BIG one!!!

Mojito, It'll probably come as a casual comment like, "Don't you think a piano would look nice in the living room..." And you'll be thinking upright and she'll be thinking Steinway! :D

My wife takes a prize, too. Over a year ago I bought a kind of flashy A/E bass with her pretty much insisting (because she loved the looks -- quilted, blue and inlaid). A couple weeks ago I pull it out to fool with and she just looked at it sort of stunned and said, "How long have you had that?" She had totally forgotten it! No problem, she just couldn't believe she didn't know about it. She's the greatest -- bought me an Epi LP for Fathers' Day (yes, I already have an excellent Tele!).
