Eminence Legend 105 vs Jensen C10R
Between these two, ONLY these two please, which speaker do you think would be best for my Blackface Princeton reverb to give me that classic chimey Fender sound?
Please note, I only play at my house and in the studio so achieving maximum volume is of no importance. |

Legend, easy decision for me... And I am a Jensen fan too. Not C10 or 12 Rs though...

The legend seems like a good choice but I just want to make sure that it still sounds like a classic Fender. I put a Weber 10F150T in at one point and I felt like it lost too much of the Fender vibe to me.
Still go with the Legend? I really want this to sound like a classic Fender. I cannot express that enough as the Weber changed the sound to me. |

The Hot Rod speakers are basically Legends FWIW.

I put two Emi Legends in my SilverFace Twin Reverb. It put a little more growl in the lows, and sweetened up the highs. The chime was still very much in effect. I could turn it up higher without hurting everyone's eardrums as well. I know what you mean about really efficient speakers. People don't want "sag" or "farting" on their low end, but sometimes an amp will loose it's warmth, and the highs and mids sound almost processed. The Legends will keep the amp's character.

From your other thread you already know this, but here's another BIG vote for the Legend. The C10R is quite anemic in comparison.
And yes, the Legend translates the classic BF tone in spades--that had also been a priority for me. |

Eminence
My buddy just replaced the tired original Oxfords in his 68 Vibrolux with a pair of Eminence 10" ceramic speakers, and the amp sounds great!
The basic Eminence speakers are the best bang for the buck around for some good sounding speakers IMHO. |

The Eminence Legends (alnico) have worked for me, too, but I'm also satisfied with the Jensen C12N in a low-power twin. I'm very happy with the 2x10 extension cab I recently built and stuffed with 10" Legends for my old Vibro Champ. I took that trip because of a previous experience with Eminence Tonkers in a 4x12.

The Eminence Legend 1058 is a fine speaker--I currently have one in my '78 SFPR. BUT . . . for your purposes I'd go with this instead: http://angela.com/fenderspeaker108oh...geceramic.aspx
Less money too! |
