Amp effects loop

Hi all

Do jacks labelled "preamp in" and "preamp out" at the back of an amp act the same as effects loop jacks?

they can, although those labelings "typically" are meant for slaving one amp to another. Not sure what the signal levels/impedences are at those points, but shouldn't hurt anything to use it as a loop, but might not sound good.
