Bassman 70

I posted this over on the main page, but got only a few responses - thought I might get more specific suggestions here. Please excuse if you've seen this before:

I have a Bassman 70 head that's been sitting around here for a while - I got it in a part-cash, part-trade deal at a swap meet. I had intended to sell it, but it sounded really good - surprisingly no hum, very clean tone - and now I'm thinking maybe I should buy or make a cab for it. My best working amp at the moment is a Peavey Classic 30, which sounds great but isn't really big enough for gigging. I'd like to put together a giggable rig and I'm thinking this bassman head might be enough to do it. As an added bonus, I'm wondering if I can double on bass through the same amp (obviously this would affect the choice of speakers to go with it).

So... any suggestions? I have no actual spendable cash, but I do have a couple items I could sell or trade, value about $200-$250. So this is the range I'd be looking at in terms of a cabinet and speakers. (Less is better.)

Telecaster (obviously) is what I'd mainly be playing through this hypothetical rig.

Thanks, guys, for all suggestions.

Maybe swap the Peavey for a sealed single 12, something like a Mesa Recto cab should be good for either bass or guitar.

I have something similar

I have a Bassman 100 head that delivers classic, clean Fender tone. I found a small, light, 1x12 cab at a local used equipment shop (for $35!). I put a new Weber California 12" speaker in that cab (Webers are really phenomenal in terms of tone and response), and push it with the Bassman head. Easy rig to carry, and it sounds very big. The California is Ted Weber's version of a modern JBL, so it has big, booming bottom and clear, articulate highs, and can really roar.
When I feel too lazy to bring the Super Reverb to gigs, this rig will be ideal.

If you had the matching small 2 x 12 fender cab, it would be a sweet rig. Any cabinet that you like would be fine, even a 2 x 15 cab.........
