Anyone Tried A Dr.Z Route 66 Through 4x10's Open Back?
What are your thoughts?

Nope, but I play one regularly through a 2x12 & 1x12
This is a great amp, one of the best I've ever played. Clean, sweet tone for blues, country, jazz, older rock. However, if you want lots of nasty overdrive, it's not for you. When you start maxing the volume, the treble and bass knobs really come into their own. When an amp has tone like this, it doesn't need reverb. And those KT-66 tubes are as big as coke bottles! I love the one I play and wish it were mine, I just don't have the cash right now.

Hey Aaron,
I do have a Route 66 with the Z-Best 2x12" ported Thiele cab (and as you said, it sounds killer). However, I was just wondering what it would sound like through 4x10's and an open back cab?

I use mine with a Marshall 4X10 (small and lightweight) rated at 4ohm (4X Eminence Legend 105'S/16ohm). Sounds great with my '62 Bassman head as well. I will try without the back soon and let you know.
