Input jack problem ?
On my SR yesterday the sound became weaker and thinner, so I wiggled the guitar cable a bit and touched it up at the amp, and got some loud crackle/pops. (More pop than crackle) Then i pulled tha jack out and put it back in and the problem was gone, i could not provoke it by touching the jack up at the amp again. Any Ideas what it could have been ?

I've seen this sort of problem with all sorts of electronics that use plugs and jacks like this, sometimes it's just a dirty spot on the plug that hits a dirty spot on the jack at the point of contact. the surface where they touch is very small, so it ain't hard to cause some interference.

Cable or jack?
Baard, you could have aproblem with either the cable or the jack....more likely it is the jack. You may have a grounding problem with the jack's contact to the chassis or a piece of dirt may have gotten in the way of making good contact between the plug and the jack.

Check the cable first since it's the most likely place a failure could occur. I would also clean the jacks since they probably could use it: Just squire a little contact cleaner (Caig De-Oxit is probably the best choice) into each jack and push a plug in & out a few times.
If you're feeling ambitious, the best way to clean them is to pull the chassis and use a wire brush attachment on a dremel tool running at low speed; they'll look brand new after that. 8) However, be careful since you don't need to get shocked in the process.

ThaNKS !
Well I was thinking along those lines......My cable is 3 years+ old....lots of dirt, and the input jack is probably 27 yrs old. IŽll Let the tech look at it the next time I have it in for service. (Will be pretty soon, as we have some week and a half in beg. of july without gigs)

If the amp hasn't had a cap job (I'll bet it has), it's due. You ought to have the tube sockets and all the jacks cleaned, and have the pots lubricated/cleaned as well. :)
