Vox ADT15 Holy Cow!
I think I have the number right. About $180 at Portland Music. Had a chance to mess with one yesterday. Wow! That is a great little amp! Looking for a small SS but decent soudning amp on the cheap. You could do much, much worse.

I keep hearing this all over about the Valvetronix. I'm almost ready to try the 50 watter out. I'm really into tube amps, but I also have a lot of fun with my V-Amp2. I hated it a first but once you learn how to tweak it you can get wonderful tones from it. I really like the idea of being able to switch different amps and speakers. It blows my mind how much the cabinet models changes your sound. Some of the class A stuff is great!

The AD50VT is superb
I just had a few friends (including Reverbbb) put it through a few paces the other night and it sounded fabulous to my ears. Of course, they play a LOT better than I do so that helps (I gotta get them to teach me those LICKS!).
I have really warmed up to the AC30TB settings - it rocks man - I mean... really! ~A~ |

I have the 15 w Valvetronix.
Bought it last week for $179. It does a lot of really fun stuff and is dummy friendly. It has a 12AX7 in it wired to be a POWER tube they then tap a signal from for further amplifying. The more I play with it, the more fun I uncover. It's tweakable without having to learn much at all (which is good for us dummies). Practice amps have come a long ways! It does Vox sounds fairly loud, and BF sound is good at conversational levels (8" speaker won't exactly replicate a big amp, but Vox's always sound boxy to me anyway). Two thumbs up. I have an Ampeg 50 watter, but if I was in the market I'd definitely go for a 30 or 50 watt Valtronix. They're simple, but have several good basic sounds and the usual swirly effects which sound pretty good. |

From what I heard, the Vox modelling is in a league of it's own. I'd like to audition the floor unit against my J Station at some point. So far I've liked the J better than either of the early Pod's (1.x & 2.x). I'd say the XT is marginally better. I know the J pretty well though so the POD XT may be considerably better as these buggers have a learning curve like no tomorrow ... Still for $180 bucks that little 15 watt Vox is a monster!

I had a J-station. It was great!
NOTHING beats the acoustic sound, or several of the other sounds, and it was easy to use and sounded great. My Boss ME-50 ain't bad, but it's no J-station. I love the Vox though, because there's no set up. Just turn it on, plug in, and play. I've gotten super lazy in my middle age (welp, it's middle age if I live to 108)! Don't wanna mess with no power supplies or nuthin' any more! I used to plug the J into a Tech 21 Power engine. Killer! But I've come to hate plugging in more than a power cord and a guitar anymore. I think it was all that rack gear from the eighties, and the multiple chained amps from the seventies! :? |

Another vote for Valvetronix
I have two, the AD60VT combo, and the AD60VTH (head) through Vox's 2x12 cabinet. This has become my main amp for the past eight months. It's ease of use and versitility are the two things that stand out for me. Plus, in my opinion, I think it's the best sounding of all the modelling amps. If you can find a used one they can be had pretty in exensively. I have played the smaller models, but I've only heard good things about them.
