B1uesboy (or "Bluesboy") amps ...

... seems like the name is slightly transitioning from "B1uesboy" to "Bluesboy", and the new website is www.BluesboyAmps.com ... here's some "naked" pix of mine, #031 ...

... the loaded chassis weighs 5.4#, measures 10" x 4" x 5-1/2" high (top of the 6V6 tube) - cab is nearly completed, putting on the cane grille today.

Disclaimer - FWIW - I am not in any way affiliated with, nor profiting in any way with B1uesboy/Bluesboy amps or owner Steve Greve.

Very cool Rob. I can't wait to see it after it's in one of your beautiful cabs! How does it compare to your Winnie?

Two competely dif'rent animals. The Harvard is 16 watts of EL84's into a 15" Weber 15F150 and the B1uesboy is 5 watts of 6V6 into a 10" Weber AlNiCo 10A125. Each has its own assigned sonic task, and both perform yeoman service for me.

Have you tried running them in stereo? Are these your only two amps? What other sonic delights do you plug into? One more.... how do both amps sound with the LTD?

The cab wood is 3/4" cabinet pine, 1/2 blind dovetailed joints, finished with cherry stain over golden oak stain and sprayed with clear polyU. The baffle board is 1/2" birch ply and the grille is wicker cane, sporting a new Weber AlNiCo 10A125 speaker. Still awaiting the arrival of the stitched leather cab handle.

Let the amp shakedown cruise commence ...

My "Harvard" is a Winfield Thomas amp that's based on the Fender Harvard 5F10 circuit, using two cathode biased EL84's and two 12AX7's, with a s/s rectifier ...

Hmmmm...

Very nice...must be more "AC10" like with two EL84's though, eh?

Does anyone know, the 6AT6 tube in the original Fender Harvard, is that like 1/2 of a 12AT6???

The 6AT6, according to Duncan Amps tube reference is a double diode/triode in the same 7 pin bottle. The triode has an mu of 100 making it the equivalent of one half of a 12ax7. The Harvard uses only the triode portion of the tube. For Rob's amp I used a doubled 12AX7 for the single triode, like the Matchless amps do, and the remaining circuit was essentially the same as the Harvard except for the EL84s. I also did the Paul C mod in the phase inverter and added an additional filter cap to the preamp to quiet it down. I built it for fun.

Lemme tell y'all, this Winnie Harvard amp is serious fun. It's been my main amp since I got it and it gets a heavy workout once a week. Thanx again, Winnie!

Thanks for the replies...

My guess was that the 6AT6 was a single triode just based on the image in the 5F10 schematic...so its actually two dissimilar tubes?...like, what is it...12DW7 (the old Guild tube???).

The 12ax7 is clearly a miniature tube...is the 6AT6 miniature also or an "octal" type tube?

I'll bet that Harvard is fun, 'cause Winnie seems like such a fun guy! LOL!

Thanx, gents...

Yes, they do sound as good as they look! Rob made the head cab for my Winnie Elizabeth and the 1-12 speaker cab that holds a JBL. At first, I was going to only buy the head, but when I saw how beautiful the head and cab looked together, I had to have both! Something about the natural wood and cane that really turns my crank. The combo is killer imo.

The acid test ...

Took a chance and used it last night at our band practice (drums, bass, keyboard, along with my Tele - mostly bluez and bluez/rock tunes) and it worked out flawlessly - never hadda crank it up beyond a smidge past 1/2 volume, 'cept when I wanted some smooth OD and then I cranked it to "7", which was actually a tad too loud and I could've used the LTD OD for the proper amount of "hair". All in all, man this is one sweet li'l tube amp ... I'm thinking seriously about getting another.
