Fender Bassman LTD - nice amp

Got to play through a Fender Bassman LTD today. I really liked the amp.
I played a '52 RI and ne Am Series tele's through it.
Big fat tone and not too much high end; just the rgith amount.
I think I liked the tele's through it better than my Z-28.

Needless to say I've got GAS for one now.

Help!

Why do I do this to myself??

What exactly is the difference between the Bassman Ltd. and the Bassman RI?

I believe the differences are a lacquered cab, tube rectifier as standard, Groove tubes and Jensens 10's.
I know the later RI had the Jensen 10's instead of the alnico blues.

I had an early '59 RI that had the alnico blues and I changed out the solid state rectfier for tube but I don't remember it sounding like this one did.

I think the LTD. has a "Solid" pine cab and the old reissue has a ply cab. Maybe someone can back this up?

Ltd has solid pine cab, laquered tweed, the new GT 6L6GE's, and an adjustable bias pot. I'm almost certain it has the same speakers as the BMRI.

IMHO, the cab and bias pot are the key improvements.

Baffle Thickness

Hmmm, I'll be interested to hear if the baffle is 5/16" as in the original. I think the reissues are 3/8".....
According to Gerald Weber, this has an effect.
