NAD! (yesterday)

Wasn't planning to buy an amp just yet, but stumbled across a good price on a DRRI and had to get it. I have a Deluxe VM and really like it, but I have been looking for a better amp for home use and to get a better "all tube" Fender tone. Well, I got it for sure! The sweet thing is that this amp already has a Weber Vintage-line speaker and JJ power tubes. Score! The guy I bought it from is a helluva guy and damn fine musician/songwriter, so I'm gonna do my part to make sure this amp pushes good tunes. Since it had been gigged and moved a few times there a couple of very small nicks in the tolex, but overall, it's in great condition.

So here's the scoop... I played it quite a bit yesterday and love it. The vibrato is what I've been missing from my cleans! I don't use much of it, as it makes me sick to my stomach at high amounts, but with just a touch of it, I am happy. My pedals, however, reacted differently with this amp. My Visual Sound Open Road sounds even more amazing than it does through the VM... more clarity. The Dano TOD now has some "hiss" to it when it's engaged. You can't hear it when you're playing, but it's definitely noticeable while not playing. Thankfully, the Open Road is completely silent. All of my pedals seem to be "clearer" and more responsive, if that makes sense.

Besides the Dano pedal issue (which I will tinker with more today), I am extremely happy. Now, to find a good delay pedal!

Great find! I never seem to have the cash when a great amp deal shows up. Need to start squirreling away I suppose!

Thanks! I actually used my future NGD money to fund my NAD! haha I've been GASing for a Baja for a long time and then this amp comes up and slaps me in the face. No time for GAS... just had to jump. It's bad enough when you have GAS, but when you're spontaneously buying, does that mean you have a problem??? haha

Great Cooley quote, btw!!!
