I take it back: I love my Deluxe Reverb!!!

From time to time, I've mentioned how I thought my '65 Princeton Reverb sounded better than my'68 Deluxe Reverb.

Well, I realized the pick ups on my tele were too low. Once properly adjusted, the DR really came to life.

Sounds silly and not possible, but it sounded great. Just like a DR should. Happy I didn't part ways with it.

That's funny - I've just been having a similar time with my amps and my tele - adjusting pickups and finding truer sounds in them.

A 65 PR and a'68 DR, eh? Life is GOOD!

And yes - in general, pickup adjustment can make a huge difference and is an easy thing to tweak.

I'm the opposite: my Teles sounds unbelievably good through my '66 DR, but not as warm through my '66 PR. Maybe it's because the DR has the original Oxford and RCA blackplate power tubes and the PR has a new Weber and JJ 6V6 tubes. Maybe I'll mess around with pickup heights though, just to see how it may affect things.

You may not love it, but it's pretty hard not to at least like an original DR.

CD,

I hear ya! And trust me, you're far less down the rabbit hole than I am w/ 15 amps, 20 guitars, 2+ full PAs, lighting, bass rig etc. I feel like my savings program is CList!
