Dang! That looks clean. Great score. I'm not expert, but are you sure it's '72? I thought the stopped the Deluxe Reverb-Amp logo by then.
Not 100% certain and doesn't really matter. It certainly looks sweet. Good luck with it. |

My '72 Fender catalog (pg. 46 for those of you playing along at home) shows the '-AMP' designation and a tail on the Fender logo.
Darned pretty amp there.

let's see- on the OT it says 606-2-12
on the choke it says 606-2-07 and PT says 606-3672 not sure about the PT, but the other ones point to a 72, correct? and thanks for the complements! sounds as good as it looks. |

I thought they stopped the "-AMP" designation in '71, but as we know Fender just used whatever was in the bin on the assembly line so this might be a chassis they had sitting around for a while before they built the amp. Very cool that is has the "-AMP" designation though! And if that is indeed a JBL you REALLY scored!
BTW, what is serial number at back right of chassis? |

TONS of posts here about DR speaker replacements. Common suggestion is Weber 12F150, but the choices are a bit boggling. Really depends on what you'r after tone, volume and break-up wise. My '73 had a 12F150 in it which was great but I've since settled on a Celestion Gold which I absolutely love in my amp.

I'm with Dave, it would depend on what you want. I suspect you're not looking for a lot of breakup? If it were me a G12H30 would be in it faster than grease lighting. Bumps up the headroom a bit and it's just a great speaker in open back cabs.

All my fenders are pre 1965 so I wouldnt know
![]() At lease I learned something.. I was certain the drip/blackline was dropped in 68 and the AMP dropped in 69. I stand corrected... now lets eat!

If you're looking for early breakup, a lower efficiency (sometimes called sensitivity) speaker is what you want. Alnico or Ceramic, you'll get the goods at a lower SPL. Alnico will give up those goods a little smoother but your ears are the judge.
Frankly, the Utah that's in there is probably not that efficient so it might be a good to just stand pat. If you find you ever want to replace it, you might try an alnico then. |
