I am in love with my new AC15.

Seriously.

In. Love.

I can't make this thing sound bad. I'm talking about the lastest AC15 Custom (AC15C1). Loaded with Celestion Greenback, the AC15 Custom now also comes with a Normal channel and a Top Boost channel, similar to an AC30. And the crunch is more like an AC30, too. Roaring, middy crunch, not fizzy fuzz like previous AC15s.

I put my Tele in the normal channel, lower the channel volume and crank the master volume, crank up the tone cut to about halfway and it's so smooth and warm. Plug in my Rickenbacker 360 into the Top Boost channel with the volume a hair past noon and it's all church bells with the volume rolled down on the guitar or that almost eerie, haunting slightly broken up distorted chime ala REM.

The reverb is deep, true and warm (real spring reverb, no digital garbage, thank you) and the tremelo is wonderful for adding a light shimmer to jazz chords or whacked out surfy stuttering or post rock sounds.

I'm going to get a Line6 M9 multi-stomp so I can do some more sounds (mainly delay and maybe some added dirt)

I can't stop playing this amp. I've been looking for "that sound" for years and have finally found it!

There's only one demo of it on YouTube from proguitarshop, and they're still a little hard to come by but I got mine at guitar center for $550 after a 10% coupon+tax and a little old fashioned haggling.

I had one of those for a few days. I really liked it. I was getting a great sound and loved it. I got a similar deal to you at the local GC, but then this happened:

Needless to say, the AC15 went back to GC for a full refund under their liberal return policy. While I had it though, I thought it sounded great. I was anxious to try a gig or two with it and see what went on. I wish that I would have had the money to keep 'em both, as I really liked the Vox & Greenbacck combination.

Which channel...

....are you playing out of mostly, the normal or top boost?

Glad you're enjoying!

I tend to like the gain characteristics more on the top boost channel but I've been using the normal channel more. I'm not even sure why ... I guess I like the raw sound of it.

And I'd make clips if I had a proper mic to do the amp justice! Maybe I'll see how it comes out with the HD cam anyway ...

It's a beautiful thing when you find an amp that delivers what you want. Vital part of the signal chain. Even better when that amp is well under $1,000!

Good on ya!

You almost make it sound like it was a terribly accident! Lucky guy, indeed. That's one fine looking Princetone!

I got to try one a coupe of weeks ago, and it was magical. I'm picking one up next week. I used to have a AC-15TB, and I stupidly sold it. I will NEVER make that mistake again.

Man, next week can't come fast enough.

Has anyone in this thread who owns the amp made any sound clips or youtube vids? As the OP said, only one vid up on youtube(and the guy kinda annoys me) Id like to hear a bit more of this amp- Im thinking of getting one but none at my local just yet.
Can it plug into external cabs?

Thanks!

It has two external outputs. One that allows you to add an 8 or 16 ohm external cab, muting the internal speaker in the process. The other allows you to add a 16ohm external cab without muting the internal speaker. So you could hook up a 1x12 16 ohm cab and in effect turn the 1x12 amp into a 2x12.

I have a brown Princeton and have been thinking about an AC15. Maybe I'll just be happy with what I've got.
