Don't hear much about the Epi Valve Senior...

I bought the Epi Valve Senior combo back in October. This is my first tube amp so I do not have much to compare it to. It sounds great to me and I like having a master volume and gain switch. I don't know what the hell the "presence" knob does. My only issue with the amp is it's wasy too loud for my home use. Some people say the reverb stinks but I do not care about reverb. What's the word on the street on these amps? I do not hear any chatter about them. I posted a similar thread on another forum and not too many people had played on them or heard them..

Never seen one. Are there any HC reviews?

The presence control will add some brightness. There is an excellent write up on the forum around here that explains what the presence control actually does.

I love my Epi Valve Senior Head soo much!!!

Great amp. Can't understand why the people on this forum are not that interested in this amp.It fits perfect to my CV '50s and CVC teles.
I like the "Need for Tweed" settings on the EQ.

I had the Valve Sr. combo, and it's an okay amp but sounded kinda on the "midrangey" side to me. The controls weren't very responsive either. The "presence" didn't hardly make a difference in sound at all. The reverb was like "all or none" to me. The cabinet is put together solid, and I like the front mounted controls. For some reason though, it's just not very popular.

Hey man. Thanks for the response. You said "had" the combo. Did you get rid of it? If so, what did you go with instead. I have been fighting the urge to replace mine for a lower watt amp. It's way too loud for my home use.
