Breaking in the Blue (alnico)

So I just purchased 1 celestion blue for my AC30cc, I figure 1 is better than none. There is much talk of "breaking in" these speakers, and I am wondering how many hours of practice and gig level playing are we talking about before it is "broken in"?

Maybe they do break-in, but mine sounded AWESOME from the first minute I plugged it in. I wouldn't worry about it.

It'll sound good out of the box. It'll sound *really* good after awhile... specifics are hard to say, and we're well into the realm of opinion/speculation rather than hard science, but I'll throw the number of approx 20 hours of loud use will get it loosened up nicely. Longer if you're gentle, less if you really hammer it.

I really let that sucker scream at gigs and practice, so I don't think it will take me too long. Was just kinda curious. Thanks for the responses, I am REALLY excited to try this sucker out!

I would say it took me over a year but then I was using a different amp sometimes so it's hard to say but they did change for the better IMO.

I've got a lot of experience with those speakers. I'd say they will sound stiff cold and harsh (compared to what they'll sound like broken in) until you've played LOUD, gig volume, not bedroom volume, for at least 20 hours or so and they'll continue to change and improve until about 100 hours of gig volume.

i didnt use blues but for my alnico speakers i heard a major difference in the first 30 minutes of playing. At first bass was weak and the speaker sounded a bit fuzzy but quickly that changed. after the first 30 minutes they will continue to break in but the change wont be as dramatic.
