Biasing a SonicCord

Wondering if anyone has any experience with the SonicCord Toad amp. Bought mine used and am wondering if its fixed biased or cathode. Heck it might even be adjustable! I just don't know. Any help is appreciated.

Tele-Monster, you might want to check with the manufacturerfor the fine points of that one. I did a quick search, and what I found leads me to believe that the 'power' level switch is actually a switch that changes the bias circuit from cathode to fixed bias schemes. IF the amp came with a manual, this is one aspect that should be covered, imho.

When I saw that the amp yielded 20 or 30 watts, I suspected that they were switching bias methods. Then, I read a HC review that stated that the switch took the amp from Class A to AB. Many amp companies hype Class A when in fact the amp if simply functioning in cathode-biased Class AB., and therefore many consumers/users misunderstand this, also.
I am not positive that this is what is going on with this amp. THat is why I suggested getting in touch with the amp manufacturer in England. OR....a good tech could pull the chassis and understand what is going on there. IT is always a good thing to understand the basics of what an amp is doing if one is going to own and use one. A good tech can be your friend and ally in the tone quest.

Thanks for the info! The only problem is the company is out of business and i have no way of contacting the owner. You have been a huge help though. I know a fair (very fair) amount about amps and just thought maybe I could tube swap/bias myself, but it looks like shes headed to the shop. Thanks again!!!
