Still waiting for Marshall Class5
Originally scheduled for late December, then early January and now still on track for early February. First piece of gear I've allowed myself since loosing my job April of 09. Sweetwater sales person calling every week to update and check to see if I still want it. Excellent customer service.
ON the good side it has given me something to look forward too. On the bad side it's given me more time to remind myself that I really don't need and can't afford another small tube amp ( I have 10 now). When I mention cancelling the order to my wife she replies "Don't you dare". God I love her. |

Yes, it can . . . kinda ! Depends what your "home" is like ! Semi de-tatched or town house in a complex, ermmm, probab;y not. But if you live in a "regular bricks and cement house" with atleast 10 meters between you and the next house, yes you can. This is not an amp that will rattle your windows, imho. There is also very little headroom, so you get a sweet valve break-up real early, perfect for recording.

Just a quick update. Sweetwater sales guy called ahead to update. Said they are still expecting their shipment by weeks end. Unfortunately he could not answer anything about the rattling problem and the chances of this being the reason for additional delay.
SirJackedfuzz, I was hoping that it would break up fairly early as I don't want to rattle windows. My music room is 12' by 18' w/carpeted floor and walls. Sounds like it should be a good fit. Like I say I have many other amps for clean tone and would like the classic Marshall OD or crunch. Haven't added a significant piece of gear to the collection in many months so I'm kinds excited I'll post my thoughts on it after I've had a chance to play with it. |

I'm thinking "regular" in South Africa is a bit different from "regular" in most of the USA...

There'a a youtube of a dude plugging-into the headphone jack 1/2 way with a stereo plug while using an extension cab. He's getting decent tone, and he can be heard talking above his playing. Instant attenuation, and no harm done.
It's not really home-volume friendly if you dial-in that sweet crunch. I've had two, and they were both rattlers. If it's been fixed there will be a third. I actually find the Blackstar HT-5 head to be superior, particularly after a Tung Sol 12AX7 swap, but...The Class 5 is a great sounding amp when cranked. VERY nice Marshall tone at the price point. MF is now saying 2/14... |

Id personally say no... Ive used mine in rehearsal situations and cant get it above halfway on the vlume even then - which is def no where near overdriven - this thing is loud - Mines going up for sale tbh the 5w setting on my mesa is (a) more manageable and (b) better sounding...

I received mine today in Newfoundland. Serial # indicated it was built 48th week of 2009. i am not hearing any rattling issues so I assume this is the "rattle fixed" design.
I love the tone of this little beast - it puts my Blackheart Little Giant and Epiphone Valve Junior to shame! (maybe its just I'm not an Eminence speaker fan.) But this little box of terror is L-O-U-D loud! |
