I have used both tubes, but not both of them in my 5E3 clone. I actually like both of these for new production tubes. In my Princeton Reverb I was pretty happy with the E-H though it had to be biased hotter than the NOS tubes I was also using to get the same warmth. The Tung-Sol reissues also sounded really good. I think these are a little warmer sounding than the E-H tubes and I liked them a bit better.

I prefer both of these to the sound of JJs in the PR (not that you asked).

JJ's in mine. Sounds too good for me to waste money experimenting, can't sound better, just different.

i've had good luck with NOS tubes ... i can't afford RCAs, but the Phillips won't break the bank. sweet-sounding and last a long time.

Bullshirt. EH 6V6s do not suck; they're good-sounding tubes. Dr. Z liked them enough that he designed an amp around them. Sovteks, however, are poop.

Checking the New Sensor website, I'm not sure you can even buy the "Sovtek" 6V6's (6P6S) anymore. Probably for the best!

Tung-sol (or JJ-Tesla 6V6GTS) get good reports.

The JJ 6V6GTS have a good depth of tone with a clean sparkle, plenty of headroom but they are almost a 5881 type and can sub for 6L6GC in a bassman.

EH on the whole (e.g. 12AX7) imo are a bit so-so, ok but boring. OTOH genuine Mullards can be MOR bland too.
