What is the difference between.....??

I have a black tolex Fender Blues Junior..I am looking at a tweed clone 5e3 (tweed deluxe) both are 12' speakers with around the same amount of watts...I know the clone is hand wired vintage circuitry etc...but to the ears is there much difference in sound or is are they pretty close? Please forgive my ignorance on the subject..I have not yet played a tweed deluxe clone in the flesh only heard a few clips on youtube.

i've never heard a Blues Jr. that gets the grunt a 5E3 can (one may exist, but i've never heard it). the 5E3 circuit's interactive vol/tone controls are a huge factor. it's a primitive circuit and it's primitive sounding! as always, try before you buy.

arggg too late I already pulled a trigger on a 5E3 clone..being shipped to me right now...the price was too good to pass up and the job was class A all the way...now I'm worried I may have two amps that do exactly the same thing in which case the Blues Jr. will be for sale shortly..

My guess is that you'll be happier with the 5E3 clone. Let us know...

you won't regret it! they are not the same thing at all. if you like the raunchy old-school sound, the Blues Jr. may seem tame by comparison. let us know what you think when you compare them. but definitely experiment with the 5E3 volume controls ... your setting on the channel you're NOT using affects the tone on the channel you're plugged into, so there's quite a range.

They're definitely not the same thing. Enjoy!

Blues Junior is a nice amp but it's nowhere near a good 5E3:
