Red Knob Twin or Hot Rod Deville?

I'm looking to pick up a used amp. Loud & Clean is my requirement, and I've been looking to trade a guitar for it locally and I've had two offers. Of the two what would you pick:

A Red Knob "Evil" Twin

or

A late 90s Hot Rod Deville 2x12"

The Deville comes with 2 sets of spare groove tubes, BUT I'd have to chip in $150 on top of the trade. The fellow with the Red Knob Twin will do a straight trade.

What would you pick?

I'm no amp tech, but I prefer the sound of the red knob twin. It sounds like a slightly drier, less boomy real twin - it's one of my favorites for loud clean. People can get great sounds out of a DeVille, but it's never happened to me.

Also the $$$ issue would make it a no-brainer for me.

google Fender Red Twin and you will see a lot of praise

If the amp is in good condition with all the features intact you have an example of a future collectable

REd KNob Twin even though they aren't my personal favorite. IT yields much better cleans than the Deville, and the reverb is in the tube domain as opposed to the SS reverb circuitry of the Deville. IN terms of construction and ease of work, they are about equal, ime.

Red Knobs and all

gets my vote and I have owned both of them. I still have "The Twin". Check it out over on the Amp Club page here at the TDPRI.

Red Knob Twin
Deville's don't compare
If you take the time to learn the RN Twin you can get all the sounds.

I love the sound of a Red Knob Twin, but be forewarned: It is one heavy amp. I was all set to buy one until I tried moving it.
