80's Peavey Studio Pro 40 + 15"?
So I picked up an old Studio Pro 40 for Peanuts.
Ive always fancied trying a clean amp (and I like Peavey clean tone) with a 15" speaker. Probably in an attempt to emulate Redds LTD's. If I could find a cheap 15" speaker do you think this would be a good project. Obviously the cab is significantly smaller than those big steel amps, but I know the LTD was built into the Pacer chassis which isnt huge. Will this scratch my 15 itch or am I just barking up the wrong tree? Steve PS, check the psychedelic grill cloth! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

11 Pounds? Now that's a score! Though I seriously doubt a 15" speaker would fit in that cab, it is smaller than a Bandit. On the other hand, for that kind of money you could build a new cab and still be ahead.

Cheers openbar, I was pleased at the price. Bid £30 and expexted someone else to win it for £31.
I guess none of the Peavey Pickers Social Club were on fleabay that day, either that or the grill cloth put em off!

Congratulations on the score! I own one and I love it --pretty sure there is not room for a 15" but you definitely need to upgrade the stock speaker--you will be rewarded IMHO.

I had a Studio Pro 40 in the 80s, a great SS amp. It was the best sounding cheap amp I found back then, used it for a backup and for little gigs where portability was foremost. Next time I see one in a pawnshop, I'm grabbing it. It was a very good Jazz amp, very warm sounding for a SS and loud. I put an EV in it; but now, I'd try something a little lighter, like a C-rex or a Jensen MOD 12-110.

Thanks guys, Its arrived and the grill cloth is off. Ive been doing some cleaning. The 15 thing may have been far fetched but I really like the sound of this amp. Love those cheesy 80's Peaveys!
This amp really likes teles. Its also single channel which is great as I can barely stand anything that makes my life more complicated.
