Custom Vibrolux Reverb what gives ?

all this talk about the 65 Deluxe and teh RI SUpers..How come there is not much talk of this amp?

I saw one yesterday , maybe for the first time at GC, probebly the first time I notices it. I had a few minutes and I sat down and played a pretty nuce Tele thur it and ABC'd it with a Deluxe VM and a Deluxe RI. In my mind , no contest.

Tyhe braqnd new Deluxe is jyst udner a grandm 22 watts, nice, the Vibrolx reverb is basically teh same price @ 40 WATTWS2X10A

That's because the CVR quickly acquired a rep for bad hiss, and if you consider most of us are followers and afraid to rock the boat or get out of the boat, many just buy what others buy to be included. A simple change in preamp tubes may solve the problem however. And in reading other post, that seems like something most of us do anyway. It's sort of like P10R speakers. Everyone rails on them, but you can't find a used one for sale and the prices of the new ones have risen as proof they're selling.Demand usually dictate higher prices. Hell someone's buying them! I have a CVR and love it and after trying every other speaker in it ( some of which were very good) I've gone back to the original P10R speakers. Good speakers and great amp. I love my Custom Vibrolux Reverb. It's one of Fender's greatest secrets along with P10R speakers, but now I've gone and told you haven't I!

As mentioned, they had a reptation for hissing, plus they weren't a reissue of the beloved Vibrolux, but rather a re-jiggered version of the reissued Vibroverb.

All that said, I played through one at my local guitar shop and thought it was a really sweet amp!

Same build quality as the Reissue amps....that is, separate pcb for the front panel controls and jacks, main pcb down in the middle of the chassis and chassis mounted tube sockets. FAr superior in this regard to the 'regular production Fender amps.
IT is built on the board that was used for the Reissue of the '63 2X10 Vibroverb, and it can easily be reverted to that. That is, if you take the effects off of the Normal channel and re-establish a negative feedback loop; the hiss goes away and the amp's sonics yield what the '63 Vibroverb RI yields. AS it is stock, it is a hotter amp due mainly to the absence of a negative feedback loop. I personally would install an adjustable resistance negative feedback loop, and removing the effects from the Norm ch eliminates the hiss.
