Greetings! NGD!! & amp question?

hello all!

long time stalker, first time poster! i have been playing guitar for about a year now, and got my first "proper" guitar a couple of months ago, a 2003 standard american telecaster... and love it! after stumbling across this site and reading all the reviews i was sold on a squier cv tele, and went to my local store to try one out. it was great, but the guy there gave me a fantastic deal on the std Am, so good i had to take it!

i have been using a Peavey Rage 158 amp that i was give when i started. once and a while i run Guitar Rig 3 from my lappy into it. its a great program but not that convient with my setup at the moment. while the Peavey amp it pretty good i have deciede to upgrade to a smallish tube amp. i play (attempt to play!) a wide varity of music, including blues, classic rock, modern rock, occasional metal and covers of bands like radiohead, black keys, white stripes, tool, ratm, all the way to some pop that im too embarassed to mention! the amp would be bedroom use only, but wouldnt mind something that i could use in quite jams with some mates if i ever get to that level.

so i have been and tried out a couple of amps around town and have knocked a couple out and narrowed the field a little... but need some opinions on a couple of options.

at the moment its down to Super Champ XD or a Blues Junior.

the difficulty is that im interested in getting a tuner pedal and volume pedal so was think a multieffects pedal (digitech rp 250 maybe?) might be a good option...

both of these are within my budget (quite flexible), im just looking for something that is good enough quality to last me a long time.

what do you think??

Welcome to the TDPRI! I don't have any experience with either of those amps, just wanted to say hello.

Either one of the amps you mention are good amps, and quite giggable, as well. Good choices there... you might also want to look at some of the Vox amps (AVT-30 comes to mind). With the Super Champ and the Vox, you'll get lots of voicings to play through-since you're still kinda "wet behind the ears" this is probably a better way to go for you at this point. Another bonus of these amps is that you won't need the multi-effects pedal-use that money to buy a decent tuner instead...

Good luck on your amp safari!

My vote would be for the Super Champ XD and no multi FX pedal. I own a digitech rp 80, and while it has its uses, the SCXD will mostly cover those bases. It will give you a chance to try out a variety of tones and you'll be much better placed to choose when you buy a bigger/better amp later. And you will, if you hang around this place...

Welcome to TDPRI!

Do yourself a huge favor and take it to a good setup guy. You really won't know what you have till the nut, action, fretboard and saddles have been adjusted.

Welcome to the forums.
I would probably go with the Blues Jr.
Simply because in the time to come you will do a lot of experimenting with pedals and such, the Blues Jr. will fill any gig with enough oomph.

thanks guys!

i have tried a VoxAC4TV and really liked it. then the guy plugged into a Fender Pro Junior... and it was even better, i cant really explain the difference but it sounded much nicer to me. he suggested i try the blues junior and the SCXD but they didnt have any at the time. hopfully i will get a chance to try the blues junior this weekend and i might be able to find a virbro champ XD but the SCXD are as rare as hens teeth.

im looking into ordering one online from the US because even after shipping they are alot cheaper that in australia.

thanks again for your input, helps so much for a noob to get opinions from more experienced players!
