Look like Dual and Single Showman heads, although single Showmans usually come on a 1-15" cabinet, but I got a feeling Fender emptied out the warehouse for Monterey.

Cipollina would've had his monster multi-amp rig if the bands were using their own gear.

That's even more extended from the photos I saw in Guitar Player years ago. I'd like to see Native Instruments come up with a Cipollina preset for Guitar Rig. Not that I'd use it much--I'd have to put a Bigsby on something.

I remember seeing some footage on PBS where John was using a Danelectro Guitarlin for slide--back then we had no idea where he dug this stuff up.

He was a visionary. Those two Standel Combo's are the same amps Wes Montgomery used for their clean tones. tThen he runs them through an Echoplex

A couple years ago, a guy I knew had a store and got one of the Standels in on consignment, but it was just about toast. I picked up on using separate amps for bass and treble a while ago, but even that arrangement is hard to pull off any more.

Deke Dickerson has a nice collection of original Standels from the 50's. He has a couple of only 40 or so original handmade ones like Chet Atkins played

man I hated that set-up. I worked at a beer bar in Berkeley and he would come in with that rig and aim it right at the bar, then play it at at least 11 (for all I know that thing goes up to 13!) all night. Headache guaranteed for yours truly, the friendly bartender.

I think the amps are Fender Showmans.

I got into the performance ignored the gear!

Fender provided the backline for the MPF, Dual Showman's and probably a few Twin Reverb's. A bunch of the gear was "borrowed" by The Grateful Dead for a free concert in SF after the festival. It was then returned to a Fender rep.
Jimi, and maybe The Who, used their own amps.

I'm not sure that John Cippolina had developed his full rig then, or maybe he decided it was too much to haul for a short set. Those Standell amps were popular among the SF bands. One of the Big Brother guitarists used them before getting signed and David Frieberg used 'em for bass.

Can you imagine a festival today where everyone plugged into the same amps?

I recall seeing Cipollina w/ Qucksilver '67 - '68 and his rig was two Fender Twins stacked one on the other with the horns.
