1970 Ampeg

I just moved into a new place.
I've tested everything after the move and the studio is functional
About ready to track and fired up my amps

The Ampeg Vt22 is making sounds like when you put a jack in when the standby is off ...With nothing plugged into it !

I thought it was my strat jack, because it was loose
Nope -its the ampeg for sure
swapped guitars cables and amps

any ideas ?
power tubes ? preamp tubes, reverb tubes ?
cold solder joints ?

Thanks

Well first make sure the tubes are not loose.
Change the tube one at a time to see if you have a bad tube or tubes.
If you have a 2 prong plug try it the other way
Try another amp to make sure you have clean power
Let the Ampeg warm up with the volume down for a couple hours.
Sorry thats all i can think of until you start to pay a tech.

Try moving the pre amp tubes as well or replace with known good tubes.

be careful removing the tubes one may be cracked but probably just microphonic

My Gemini 22 did a similar thing with a dirty rocker switch after a period of non use and moving... best of luck, let us know what you find!

Does it do this plugged into a different power source / different room?

Are all the tubes lighting up?

Does the amp have reverb? Is the pan ok?
