Rectifier tubes

I am wondering if anyone has been using a modern rectifier tube and had long life and good use from it? Heard a few stories about modern rectifier tubes not lasting as long as older ones.

I have been using an old Westinghouse for a couple of years now. It had been hidden on a shelf for 30+ years when I picked it up from a local music store. No telling how old it really is. But it's worked great. I have been advised to find an older or NOS tube for a rectifier since they have a better life span and just a better tube.

So, hence the question of what have you been using for a rectifier? It's life and is it Old (NOS) or modern?

Thanks,

Bruce

I have no experience with modern rectifier tubes, as my amps use 5Y3GT's and the only modern tube is the Sovtek, but that doesn't drop as much voltage as NOS (from hearsay, no personal experience). More importantly (for me), NOS 5Y3GT are the same price as the Sovtek, so I am using CBS/Hytron 5Y3WGTA's in both my amps as I have a batch of them.
