Epi Valve Senior out for delivery!!

How long has it been since we first started talking about this amp? About a year?

Anyhow, I'm waiting for mine to be delivered today. Anyone else get one or do I get to claim the title as the first stateside owner?

Hoping she'll be allot of bang for the buck.

IIRC, since early last year. The Swedish importer managed to get it into last year's catalog.

You unfortunately cannot claim to be the first stateside owner of the Valve Senior...

I want to hear one of these things for myself. That above video does not do much for me...

OK guys, can you see me smiling from ear to ear? I love this little amp. BTW, CrowPhil mine is a combo so maybe I'm the first valve Sr. combo owner in the states? :0)

Seriously though, it's been awhile since I've picked up something that got me this excited. If people thought the Jr. was a deal wait until they get their hands on this one. I can dial in anything from a nice black face clean to a tweed crunch with just a little tweak of the tone control gain adjustments.

It sounds pretty darned good right out of the box. The reverb is over the top and virtually unusable past about 9-10:00 with stock tubes. It's also a little noisy (hissy), but nothing I can't tolerate. Other than that it's the perfect little amp for home use or even small gig's IMO and exactly what I've been waiting for. A 6V6 amp with a full EQ stack (even has a presence control), master volume and gain controls, tube driven short spring reverb, a standby switch and a decent 12" speaker in a compact solid pine cabinet. All of this for less than $400 shipped to my door. I don't think there's a better deal out there.

It ships with EH 6V6's, Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG's pre-amp tubes and an Eminence Lady Luck speaker. I like the EH 6V6's and I also like the Ruby's, but not in this amp. I've had the LL speaker before and it's just OK IMO. Like I said, it's a great little amp right out of the box, but I made drastic improvements (to my ears) with just a couple of easy mods. I installed and Celestion V30, replaced the V1 and V3 (input and PI) with Tung Sol's and replaced the reverb tube with a Jan Phillips 12AT7. Now it's a little tone monster and I couldn't be happier. The V30's have a tight bass but are not that extended so in this small cabinet it's a little bass shy, but still very usable. I might look for something else down the road. The 12AT7 tames the reverb and is much better.

Anyhow, I know allot of folks have been looking at these amps for awhile so I thought I'd put my opinion out there with a quick little review. I'm sure the moders are going to have a field day with these amps and I can't wait. I'll probably get another just because they're such a great deal and run them in stereo.
