Music Man Amp Info

"The hybrid circuits used by Music Man were Tommy Walker's base designs.
Tommy had a background in television circuitry, and while not an Electrical Engineer, was quite skilled at developing audio circuits.
There were other engineers employed at Music Man that helped Tommy but he was the main driver behind overall designs.
Tommy passed away in 2003."

A Tommy story...
After the sale to CBS and before Music Man,when Tommy still traveled around to the Fender dealerships,he came to Music Land (the polite branch of Tucson's Chicago Store) where I was teaching guitar, and happened that day to have my '64 Concert with a broken fuse holder there at the store.Tommy asked to borrow it-something to do with Concert amp circuitry and it was the only one handy. He brought it back the next day, fuse holder all fixed. What a guy!!!

Tom Walker spoke to my high school business class in high school.

I don't remember a lot about it except that our teacher and Tom were friends somehow and I loved Mr. Linahan... he was a great teacher. Weird how many cool things happen in your youth and I was probably staring at Patty Crutchfield's.... hair.

I just bought my very first amp Friday and it is a Musicman 65 Reverb Head with a Bassman 50 2x15 Cab.

I have always had great amps to play out of since my dad plays pedal steel. I still have some really nice vintage amps in storage that I will never sell, including another MM and a Vibroverb. I picked up the MM because it sounded great and I think they are super cool. The price was hard to resist too.

I am waiting on the admin to send me the confirmation email for the MM forums. I did not see a webmaster contact email so I sent one to the admin.

I did not sleep Friday night because I was busy reading about MM amps.

I ran with an older kid when I was a young geek.

We were always running all over Tidewater Va, checking every store and pawn shop looking at MM amps and cheap Les Pauls. Of course we were always broke, but it was fun....

Use to check out Al&M, thinking we'd be rocking one day....

ahh, the bliss of youthful ignorance.....

...and I know you are still waiting for access because "musicmanamps.com" is my website! The moderator, webmaster and admin are all the same guy (me)! I collect requests for a period of time and then process them in batches. I am overdue to process the current one and should be able to get to it in the next week or so.

Congrats on your new purchase! Music Man amps are built even tougher than most Fenders and with a little care will outlast us all! I'm sure you'll enjoy that amp for many years.

Hiya Steve! I was a regular on your forum back around 2000, when I had an HD130-115, which was really a sweet, sweet amp, sold during one of my occasional financial meltdowns...

Keep up the good work!

Tim

Great to hear from you! Despite the fact that I run that site I do not restrict myself to any brand of amp. I have had over 50 amplifiers pass through my hands in the last 10-15 years, 95% of them have tubes but only 5 of them were Music Man. I still own all those MM amps though!

I like to repair broken amps so it is those I seek out (regardless of brand). Most Music Man amplifiers I run into are still working and that says a lot about their quality of construction!

Right on!

I have since had the filter caps replaced and a checkup by local Amp Tech Val King. She is in tip-top condition now and sounds great. She should be good to go for another 35 years or so.

so glad to see you here! Your site has been a great resource for me! I love Music Man Amps (and I'd love to have a sabre I or II someday too)
