Safe to use 12AU7 in place of 12AT7?

My reverb in the DRRI is too much so I put a 12AU7 in place of the recommended 12AT7. I'm not going to blow anything up am I? Nothing smells bad yet...

You won't ruin anything

Except maybe the sound of the verb, the 12AU7 is an ultra lo gain factor tube (20 or so) compared with the 12AT7 at 60 or so.

Oh yeah...

I use very little 'verb anyway...I only had it up to about 1 1/2. Now I turn it up to about 5 to get that sound. Cool to know I won't damage anything. Thanks Big Cookie.
