Pro Reverb 12" Speaker Dilemma

I have a 68 Pro Reverb that has Oxfords in it. They sound fine, for the most part, but are alittle spongy on the low end. I am comtemplating changing them. Any suggestions? I would like to go with new replacement speakers. It is a gigging amp, and I am of the opinion that buying "vintage" speakers with some miles on them might not be the best long term solution to the problem.
Thanks,
Jay

speakers

you may want to check out a pair of Eminence Red White and Blues. Real tight low end and nice mids.
I had a set in my Twin but had to take them out because they were too efficient for my Twin.

I put them up for sale on the garage sale page here.

Another set of speakers to try would be the Reverend Alltones.

I would put i a vote to look at the Eminence Cannibis Rex. It does the Fender clean outstanding and the description is dead one from my experience with it. It is sprt of a Jensen C12N on steroids, but smooth. Excellent clean and with gain. The Jensen C12N does nto seem to handel the highs very well, and if you run a pedal into it (with my amp at least) it does not do gain well. But, I do not really know what you are going for so this may be way off.

I'm sure I dont know what I'm talking about but I put a set of Brand New Jensen Reissues C12N's in my Pro Reverb and love em. Very good speakers and not as exspensive as others. You can get em cheap at mojotone.

I've heard their black beauties are realley good but never heard one.

You cant go wrong with a Weber though.
