rectifier tube for DR-RI

hi, ive got a 65 deluxe reverb reissue, i need a new 5AR4, does it matter which brand i get? i always hear people talking about how power tubes and preamp tubes effect the tone, but never really anything about the rectifier tubes, should i pay a little more and get something kinda nice, or just get a plain old groove tube..thanks...

yes and no

a decent american or even russian rectifier tube should do the trick.
as far as tone goes the rectifier will only effect sag/attack. I'd stay away from chinese rectifier tubes.

Shouldn't you have a GZ34 in there instead of the AR4?

Stan, a GZ34 and a 5AR4 are the same thing. No difference.

Actually the recent production Chinese 5AR4s seem to work just fine.
