How good a deal?
I've seen Silver Face Supers for several hundred less than new and used reissues. If your deal is in the $400-$500 range, that would be cool. If it's in the $700 or higher, I'd say look for the real thing.
I've only played reissues twice in stores and they felt harsh compared to my '73. But I was really looking at guitars in those cases and the sound could possibly explained by speaker break-in.

The Love Below !!!!
Wait for a 1970's or a Rivera Era 4X10 Concert. Don't be so anxious to pull the trigger, which ever way You go it's gonna be a fair hunk of change.

I own a 1969 Super Reverb and it is a great amp. I was at the Dallas Guitar show in April of this year and I saw really nice Silverface SR's[non-master volume]for $650.00 If you could find a SF master volume cheap go ahead and buy it because any good amp tech can bypass the Master Volume circuit. If the amp you buy hasn't recently had a cap job then allow about $200 for a recap and retube job.I believe you would be much happier with the real deal instead of a reissue. The re-issue would be good if you can purchase it for under $500.00 .

I'm with everyone else. Get a real one unless someone is giving you the reissue and in that case sell the reissue and buy a real one. Here is an example this one is getting ready to go at $400.00
And by real one I mean handwired non PCB to me those are real amps everything else is just plastic.

I knew I'd get it. I dont know anything about those I was just looking at price. There are a bunch on Flebay so you ought to be able to find one. Of coarse the older they are the more money they go for. If you can research them you should be able to find a 68 for a reasonable price that is basically the same amp.
Its funny how a different colored faceplate can make $1000.00 difference. Yes there were a couple of minor electronic adjustments but thats it. People can be so stupid. I think I'm gonna go around buying up Silverface amps and 60's Bassman, Tremolux, and Bandmaster heads they are just as good as anything out there but arent popular so dont bring the big bucks. Lets face it the small heads dont bring much cause they look funny.People are gonna wise up in a few years and these are gonna go through the roof like everything else. I know I dont know what I'm talking about again so dont bother.

haven't tried one myself yet, but first reports from people I know who have is that the Super Reverb re-issues are done pretty right. They are PCB construction, but not like the cheap PCB in Devilles, etc.; more like a point-to-point amp.
I'd say give these a closer look before going the knee-jerk "buy a Silverface" route; Fender seems to be getting their act together on some of the recent re-issues. /rick

Well if the new ones have flying leads from the components to the board I dont have a problem with that. I had a Deluxe reissue and it wasnt pretty in there. It was built to sell at KMart not a music store.
