Favorite Amp for Country Twang
I would be interested to hear people’s opinions of their favorite country guitar amp.
And I am Talking Jimmy Olander type Twang. Last edited by roto1138; September 2nd, 2009 at 02:07 AM. |

The classic twang thing is a big FEnder reverb amp. At some volume a Deluxe REverb does it, but at some point, it runs out of headroom. Twin REverbs don't run out of headroom, so they do it at any volume. I recently picked up a Super Twin Reverb with 180 watts....it will do twang even louder than a TWin REverb. LOL

I use a Roland Cube 60 or a modded HRD. Both are mic'd but I get twang. Doesn't someone have on their personal quotes: "Twang is in the fingers"?

+1 on Wally's Super Twin Reverb.I had the non-reverb version and it was just great for six-string and pedal. After buying a then-new '79ish Music Man 210-65 and A/B'ing it with the Super Twin,I sold the ST,although if a divorce hadn't been in the works I'd have kept it.The Music Man has been the best guitar amp I've ever had.Twang, power, and tougher than an anvil.Although it was replaced onstage(but kept at home)in turn by a Boogie Mark 3,a Music Man 212-150,a Line 6 Ax2-212,and a Bassman LTD,it's always managed to sneak back onstage and unseat the upstarts. If I were still running a guitar rig alongside my steel rig,the Music Man and the Bassman would probably alternate.
OTOH as a GAS survivor,I'd certainly be susceptible if a '57 RI Twin or a Vicky 80212 were to whisper some come-hither sweet nothings. |
