Thanks Caper! Sometimes you forget what is right under your nose (Buy & Sell The Garage Sale). As soon as I do some research on a replacement amp I'll do that.
I am currently playing thru a Marshall DSL half stack. I like the tone, but my back hates the size of it. I also think that I am ready for an amp with a little more of an open sound. But, I don't want to lose the ability to get that Marshall chunky feel. I have heard a lot of good things about the THD products and played thru a univalve once. I liked it, but I am not sure if it would have the headroom I need. Maybe the Bivalve is my solution. |

[quote="Rob DiStefanobut, what are your amp requirements? There are lotsa good combos available that are 50# and under that might do better ... ?[/quote]
I work with Norman Nardini http://www.normannardini.com,he uses a Peavey Classic 50 with 4x10s. The more I hear that amp the more I like it. He tunes down to a D and uses a strat with Dan Electro pickups most of the night. That combo really sounds good!! He uses a parts-telecaster the rest of the night. I would love to be able to get that sound plus the Marshall growl when I need it. At times, I play a bit more aggressive than he does. Maybe the answer is to use a tube screamer in front of it. I still have a lot of experimenting to do yet. |
