What Amp? At a reasonable cost
Hi All,Wonder if you could help point me in some places.
I would like to get an Amp that is ALL valve and between 5-15/20 watts. Good Quality. For Home use. Ocasionally studio and rarely small gigs. Decent Speaker and Box. Someone suggested that i should i try a Cornford Harlequin.6 watts I really dont want to Spend HUGE Bucks. I have a mid to late 70's SFVR that will go in for the chop. I just can't push the 40 watt SFVR like i would like to in a 2up 2 down. Reverb a Must and Trem would be good. Hand wired point to point. And Aimed More Toward Vintage sounds than Modern. Any Thoughts apeciated. Cheers. |

Check out the Crate
Vintage 15. Quite nice for the bux. Or the Laney L15. Of course, the venerable Fender Pro-Jr or Blues Jr. The Crate and Laney pack quite a nice little punch.

Well when i say reasonable price i mean...
Thanks Brad,
It would be more geared toward the higher end of the market really, this would be my only amp,i would more than likeley expect it to replace my seventies SFVR. Roughly Probably no more than the £1000 mark (USD at current time 1,786.29 USD) Considering i could probably get half of that from the sale of the SFVR. another option is the Victoria model 518 |

Lew, what about a BF Princeton Reverb? It sounds as if it would fit the bill and the budget with the added plus of investment value. On that budget, you could afford to look for an excellent to mint condition BF Princeton Reverb. Sweetness!

Although it's 30 Watts, the Peavey Delta Blues amp might fit the bill. It does have Tremolo and Reverb. They come in 1x15 and 2x10 speaker configuration. Not PTP, though.
30 Watts is just barely louder than 15 Watts; 3dB louder all else being the same. Hardly noticable. |

Princeton reverb--BF or SF, it's a great amp.
but if you want cranked tone at aprtment levels, well, you've really got to get a small amp with an inefficient speaker. I think Carr amps makes an amp which can go down to about one watt, the mercury, but no verb and no trem a princeton and a weber MASS would be a good combo |

How about a Dr. Z MAZ JR.?
For a boutique amp, they're priced very reasonably. They sound great at home and in the studio, and they're loud enough to gig with. I have a Jr. with a Celestion Blue, and it's terrific!
