Question of ohms.....again

If I add a speaker out to an amp that has a Internal speaker rated at 8 ohms, can I run another 8 ohm speaker without causing problems? Series or parallel ?
I want both speakers to be on, without the new jack cutting off the Internal speaker. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What amp? What ohm load is the amp rated at? What taps are available on the tranny? Tube or Solid state.

No you cant do that. If that amp is rated at 8 ohms minimum load and you run two 8 ohms speakers parallel you drop the ohm load to 4 ohms and toast the output transformer. I have done this.

You can run the two speakers in series wiring which will be a bit odd to wire it (you'll need a daisy speaker cord made) but you will notice a drop in power (by half) and that kind of defeats the reason for adding another speaker.

The best way to do this is to use two 16 ohm speakers wired in Parallel which will give you 8 ohms. That will give you the best results.

Good luck to ya :D

Ask Fender if it is 8 ohm min

It may not be 8 ohm minimum, try to contact someone at Fender and ask them if you can run an ext cab with another 8 ohm speaker.
You can easily rig up a speaker out from the extra terminals on the speaker.

I know some of the older Peavey ss combo amps didn't have a speaker out and have been converted to run an ext cab with no problems.
But I'd ask a tech or someone at Fender first.
