Fender PFG-1220 info needed

I have a Fender PFG-1220 speaker in a 56 Deluxe been in there since the late 80's and sounds great. Can anyone tell me what amps these were used in and any site links to find out specs/dates,etc.?

Thanks much

'Standin' up there to give it all his might.
He got caught in the spotlight..."

One of my favorite albums of all time.
Are there any other codes on that speaker?

Fender was using EMinence and Pyle speakers at that time. Without some more codes, I have no idea. Look on the outside of the magnet to see if there is a grey code tag there??? IF there is no code on the edge of the magnet or on the basket, then I am going to surmise that the manufacturer's code is under that Fender lable. FWIW, the Pyle code is 1098XXYY. EMinence will read 67 XXYY.

What happened to STagefright? ANd...how did you find this thread, STeve? LOL
2 1/2 months old and you dug it up.

OK, theres no codes on it, not that I can see anyway. Maybe I need to peel the label off. Heres a pic, probably doesnt help a lot. Thanks again Wally. You certainly know your stuff!

Steve, I am the sort who's curiousity would drive him to remove that sticker. There is a number under there, I bet. I am guessing Pyle. Now, if that amp were a vintage tube FEnder with orignal speaker/s, I would never disturb that label.

Dont worry Wally, its an absolute POS! Ill get to peeling tomorrow, its getting late here.

I know its an 8ohm as I got the schematic from Fender, but would like to know what kind of power it can handle. Been using it with the Pro Junior as an ext cab but would like to try it with a louder amp, hopefully without frying anything!

THe magnet is not very hefty. That and the size of the voice coil will indicate a general
handling capacity. If I had to guess, I would think 25-30 watts....it probably has a 1" coil.

Yeah, this here stagefright has gotten real bad to the point I can't post on forums anymore

I guess I just forgot about this and haven't posted here in quite awhile. Thanks for the replies.

I haven't found out anything else myself about this speaker. All I know is I had the 56 Deluxe out last night and nothing sounds as good as that speaker in it,it's amazing! It may be a POS to some but it's gold to me. I wanted to find one to try out in a Clark 5E3. I still have a Cele Blue in the Clark and looking for something not so mid heavy that will break up sooner and have a bit more air/chime.Not that the Cele Blue is bad ,it has it's moments but I think I want something more old school. Some have suggested Weber (can't remember which one) or Emminence RWB. Maybe I'll sell the Clark but should probably try other speakers just in case they'd make magic.

Hey, stagefright, what's up? Beauty is in the ear of the beholder, right? My guess is that that is a Pyle speaker. I have heard much worse than Pyle.

Thanks Wally. Yeah, two of my older more experienced guitar bros. put this Deluxe together off a scrap heap back in the early 80's and tried a bunch of speakers in it but they both said when they put that particular PFG-1220 in there,it was the one! I bought it off one of the guys around 88. Anyway, over the years I haven't heard a better old Fender tweed. Only thing that sounds kinda better is my 1960 Gibson GA6 tweed Lancer...pretty much a 5E3 Deluxe. It has an original Jensen P12R.

A good Gibson GA-6 is hard to beat for smooth, natural distortion.
