Speaker similar to Cannabis Rex - but with less low end?

Been swaping speakers in my Musicmaster Bass Amp. It's stock other than the tweed Harvard tone mod and external fuse added.

I put the C Rex from my Reverberocket in the MMB and I really like it except that the low end is a little too strong -- especially with my humbucker equiped hollow body.

Any similar speakers with smooth high end but slightly less low end

Can't really help with your question, but wanted to barge in to ask how you find the C Rex for the RR2? I'm thinking of Replacing the Stephens Tru-Sonic that's in mine now, it should be a bit lighter than the old cast basket Stephens too I'd imagine.

I love the C Rex in the Reverberocket 2. I tried a whole bunch of speakers in that amp including an Emi Alnico 122K and a Weber 12F150 and to me the C Rex blew them all away -- can't think of a better speaker for that amp.

The Emi Red, White & Blues has a tighter low end and more top end sparkle than the CRex; it sounds more "Fender-y" than the CRex at low volumes, but isn't harsh at all. I ran one for years in my BFPR clone (had a CRex in my DRRI), and just recently moved it to my '69 Bassman combo conversion project... it sounds fantastic (and loves humbuckers).

Thanks RR2, I believe that's going to be my next purchase, as this one I picked up is going to be my small gig amp for the fall! Thanks!

Hi Guys,

If I might offer some help, I'd start by saying that changing a speaker for such a minor tonal change is a bit drastic.

I made myself a Bass Cut pedal, which deals with this problem perfectly and it's footswitch by-passable too!

Here's the circuit if you fancy making one for yourself:

Good luck.

YOu could also simply replace the 50uF cap that goes from pin 3 of V1 to ground with a smaller value (2.2uF, or even less) - that should tighten up the bass a bit.
