Kendrick Blackframe 10" - good choice with Pro Jr.?
http://kendrick-amplifiers.com/Merch...tegory_Code=12
I have a line on a used one at a nice price. Any experience with this one in general, or particularly with a Fender Pro Jr.? I'm considering replacing the brown label Eminence in my PJ with the Kendrick.

The Kendrick 10" blackframe is a Credence made ceramic magnet clone of a Jensen P10R. I guess that would really make it a C10R clone. Yawn. Not the ballsiest speaker out there.
If it's *cheap*, then why not. You might like it, who knows. If it's not cheap, I'd pass and get something with more ballz. |

Thanks Tremo... nothing special then? Any comments as to how it plays when pushed hard? How's the high end & upper mids? If it's ultra-crispy, I'll pass...

It's a bit on the bright side. And shy on the bass side. But that's just my take on it, you may like it, who knows. Personally I'd go with a ceramic magnet Weber before I'd go with a Kendrick. Jeez, even a reissue Jensen C10Q with Uncle Spot's acetone treatment on the cone.
How cheap is it? |

The guy said he was selling "real cheap", & then our conversation was cut short before I could get a $$$ figure. Just trying to get some insight before pursuing it any further. Bright, & shy on the bass doesn't sound like the ticket, I'll likely skip it.

Sorry, but I've never even seen, let alone heard, a Reverend speaker. Now this is not to diss them in any way. I honestly have never heard one so I can't really do a valid comparison with something that I have heard. Doh!! Sorry!
With all that said, I suspect that the Reverends were once made by Eminence but are now made by Credence. There is nothing wrong with Credence per se, they can build a good speaker. But they build what they're asked to build. If one asks them to build an really good speaker, they can. If someone asks them to build a cheap speaker, they'll do that as well. Bright, dark, whatever. I'm sure that there are others here who do have direct experience with the Reverends and will be happy to respond to you. Most comments I've read about them have been favorable. |

supa_scoopa, here's a link to a previous thread:
http://www.tdpri.com/viewtopic.php?t...ltone+speakers I liked the 1025's so much that I ordered the Alltone 1250 12" for my DRRI. Should be arriving next week. The 1025's have sounded great at a couple of loud rehearsals. And they're cheap. I'll be carrying the amp with the 1025's out for its first show later this week; if my opinion changes after the gig, I'll follow up on it here. As for the Kendrick - wow, tough crowd... pretty severe thumbs down from you guys.

Have you seen Gerrie's pricing on those things? 99 bux for a lousey ceramic 10? You gotta be kidding. Webers cost less and sound better, so it's a no-brainer. Jeez, you can get a Weber alnico for less than a Kendrick ceramic. Duh!!! Kendrick is a price gouger like GT.

Tim- Re: the "tough crowd". You may not have been around the newsgroups long enough, but Tremo is and always has been anti Kendrick and GT and will diss them at any opportunity. He does not agree with their marketing or pricing policies but that does not make their products or services bad. I've seen excellent Kendrick products and GT does provide a useful tube screening and sorting services for those wanting to pay for it. Of course there are plenty of alternatives to both companies products and services at both higher and lower prices. Tremo knows his stuff technically and contributes lots of good information to the boards, but be aware he's had a vendetta against Gerald Weber and Aspen Pittman since the beginning of time. The "tough crowd" is not as big a crowd as it may appear.
