VOX Night Train ROX!

I finally got to play one of these, and I've got to have one. I played it through a Line 6 4x12 slant cab, and while I wasn't crazy about the cab, the amp sounded great. I really didn't think I'd like "thick" mode, but it was actually my favorite. Perfect name for the setting too. I also thought it was going to sound a lot like the Orange Tiny Terror, but didn't. I was surprised at how well the amp pulled off some blues, and did so with ease. Don't get me wrong, AC/DC is in there, but so are a bunch of other sounds. The amp is very responsive to touch, dynamics, and pick attack. The "bright" mode was nice, and obviously cleaner than cleaner than "thick" mode. Sounded very Voxy to me. Not that fat Fender clean sound but very nice. I do wish it had reverb and tremelo, but nothing a pedal can't fix. Both modes are very useful. The portability is nice too. It also fits nicely on top of a Pathfinder.

So all of you that have had yours for a few months, what are your thoughts?

So are you using the Pathfinder as the speaker? If so, how's that working. I have a 15R and have been thinking about getting a Night Train for the tube sound.

Thanks in advance.

When I get a NT, I most likely will, at least in the beginning. My Pathfinder has a 10" speaker installed, and I have plans to install a speaker input so I can use the Pathfinder as a cab. Of course I will have to completely disconnect the speaker from the Pathfinder, but that's OK.

I'm saving my pennies for either the Nighttrain, the Tiny Terror, or the new Marshall Haze. I have to get out to the local shop to try all three side by side so I can make a decision. I'm looking forward to trying them all.

I put JJ's in mine today. The power tubes had bias point 30. It breaks up at lower gain settings now. I like what the JJ's do to the sound. It's fuller now in the low, mid and high ranges.
