Can it be done for under $1k
Well now, i've been searching down the internets for amplifiers, and i can't seem to find one amplifier that fits my need. Obviously, there must be an amp out there to suit my needs, but the big brands have left me searching. Maybe because i require some specific demands, such as ;
-<$1000 -6V6 output tubes -Tube rectifier -Alnico speaker -Reverb -Mastervolume -15-20 watts Tremolo is nice but optional. Needs to have an American voicing, so in the Fender area, but with more noticable mids. Playing on a Strat with 57/62 pickups. If you know any brand that makes such amps, tell me! Also, i've looked at an Ampeg J-20, but it lacks 'verb and MV. Then again, it is quite cheap and PTP wired. |

I think it's going to be hard to find a 6V6 amp with a master volume. Nothing comes to mind and I think that most people who want 6V6s want them so that they can crank the amp up and get tube drive at lower volumes without needing an amp with an MV. I see master volumes on a lot of EL84 amps, but even the guys who make those don't have them on their 6V6 models.
I also doubt that you're going to find a new amp under $1000 with an alnico speaker. The high price of the speaker alone would be too much of the amp's cost. You can always add that later on so it's not as big of an issue. |

I agree with milocj - 6V6's w/ master volumes are a bit harder to find w/ those specs. Egnater Rebel perhaps?
One to check out that I feel really cops nice Fenderish cleans is the Mesa Boogie Studio .22+. They run EL84's but have everything else you need and sound GREAT clean. And they can be found used for ~$500. |

Allen Accomplice. No MV, per se, but a 'raw' control that adds gain. Here's one on fleabay (I have no affiliation with the seller). Allens are great, versatile amps.
