Hammond/Leslie/Motorola Guts
So I have this Hammond with Leslie in the garage. It plays but needs cleaning. I don't know if it's got tonewheels or tubes but it's got the Leslie, a 12", 8" and 6" speaker plus a big ole 2 spring reverb.
I also have this Motorola stereo console from I believe 1959. It's got 2 amps, tons of original Motorola tubes (phono amp has 4 x el84's made in Holland, 2 x USA 12ax7's, and 1 x USA 5u4gb recto) (stereo amp has a plethora of 6BQ7A's and more I've never heard of) and at least 6 Motorola golden voice speakers in it, 2 x 8" and 4 x 6". I'm giddy that I may be able to perform a cheap build with the common parts. Heck, there's 3 chassis amps, 1 reverb, 1 Leslie, 9 speakers, a boat load of late 50's tubes and cane grill cloth to boot. I have no idea of where to start. Except I should probably first find out what kind of circuits I have right? If I post the pictures, can someone tell what circuit's they are from looking at the tube chart? That way I'll know if I am to build a Vox, Gibson, Fender or Frankentone. Stay tuned, I am going to need some help with this. BTW, what are the large silver tubes? Electrolytic caps or some kind of rectifier?

That looks like some pretty cool and unique stuff, I'd fix it and get it working instead of tearing it up to build a guitar amp, but I like old stuff like that. Back when we were kings of the world. Oh well.
Maybe instead of tearing it up you could add a guitar input on to the stereo for example, that could be done while keeping it mostly original. Paul T. |

I have to agree that, if it's all in its original condition, then I'd be loathe to start ripping it apart. Might be worth something if you could get it all up and running and looking good.
