speaker for closed back combo
I play Epiphone LP with Hughes & Kettner 20W Edition Tube 20th closed back combo. The strock speaker is Eminence LoveRock 8ohm. I`d like to have more high-end response, chimey. The low-end is now very fat, allmost too bassy. What kind of replacement speaker do you recommend form Eminence or Celestion line? (Celestion Alnico Blue is out of question).

welcome to the TDPRI.
I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but I am interested in your description of the Eminence LoveRock speaker. I am always looking for more bass, so maybe that's something for me. Have you tried taking the back off the box (is that possible?) Maybe the closed-back sound isn't what you need, but the same speaker in open-back will quite possibly be more jangly and brighter. |

Looks like you have a ported back, not a closed back.
Eminence: -Private Jack -Red Fang -Man O war If you are open to Weber, I'd also consider a 12F150 25w undoped or a Blue Dog ceramic 30w undoped. |

Celestion Vintage 30?
Very save, very rockable, not my piece of 12". Although it realy helped brightning up my H&K Attax 40 years ago. I go with Jensen AlNICo in my Tweed's, then you will have your bright! (but if you'll like that?)

Hi have an older model Edition Tube which has the Celestion Rockdriver Junior as fitted.
Its a good speaker and sounds pretty awesome. I have also tried a mid 70's yellow framed Rola Celestion in there and that was pure vintage sound. I think for closed back amp combo's a celestion really hits the spot. |
