I was wondering about these. I would have to order one sight unseen (unheard) if I were to get one, so it's a bit of a tough sell for me. I might have wait till they show up locally.

I like these little amps, but two things I dislike:
No reverb. I'm not a reverb "junkie," but an amp not having reverb is pretty much a deal-breaker for me. Headroom. I keep hearing lots of guys saying it has plenty of clean headroom. If you get that amp anywhere over bedroom volume, it's got a fair amount of gain to my ears. Not nearly enough clean headroom for me to want to gig with it, unless every song I was playing needed crunch. I do like the overdriven tone though, I agree with you there. Enjoy! -Eric

I bought a Holy Grail, now all my amps have reverb!
Someday someone will make an amp with a pair of 6550 for clean and el84 for crunch for a proper channel switcher, since distortion is in the power amp, not the pre.. Those rebels are sure sweet, the guy who sold me the Holy Grail at GC was all excited about his. Sounds like fun!

It sounds like a small amp to me. I bought one at GC, took it home and played it, A-B'd it with my 18-watt clone (1x12) and took the Egnater back. The clone did everything the Egnater did much better.

i'm seriously lovin' mine !
While it may or may not meet some players' gigging requirement for clean power/headroom, it's gain & tonal versatility cannot be faulted.... One could pair it up with Egnater's matching 2-12 or 4-12 cab for better stage levels if necessary.... But it's proving to be most useful in my recording endeavors, which i think is it's primary raison d'etre.... |

This is a really fun amp.I havent played my Traynor YGM 3 since I bought one of these.Haven't been using my pedals either. It has plenty of headroom if you use a compressor with it.A best buy.

I cant wait to
take mine to band practice. I hope it sounds as good in a band mix as it does at home. IF it does it will be my go-to amp for small/mediun size gigs. If not, it will go back to the guitar center.

If that works for you, that's great... I don't care for using pedals in general, and usually only use the minimum necessary (a boost such as a tube screamer or boosta grande). Pedals are tone-suckers as far as I'm concerned, and I like the rig as simplified as possible. For that reason, I need reverb in the amp. Just a personal preference... but glad that pedal works well for you.

if you're interested, my guitar player "moonlights" for another band (Love, War, & Moonshine) in DFW when we're not gigging. And he's using a Strat, EH Nano Grail, and the Egnater Rebel. Mic'ed up, it sounds great! |
