what's the best 6" speaker????

what is the best 6" speaker for warm crunch and early break-up?

- Jensen MOD 6-15-4
- Weber Alnico Sig 6
- Any others?

I am looking for a warm sound and one to break up at very low volumes and it should be warm and friendly. But I want break-up and distortion. I do not need clean sounds.

The project I need this speaker for is a bedroom mini-cabinet I am building for my Zvex Nano Head Amplifier.

Thank you
Simon

Not a 6, but . . .

I had a Weber Alnico Sig 8S that was a breakup monster. Given the * ratings on his website, I would think the Alnico Sig 6 would give a decent amount of early breakup. Those ratings are pretty accurate. You could also call Ted Weber and talk to him - he's very willing to give you his impressions. Weber's speakers are so smooth and consistent through the power range.

What is the application for the speaker - what will it go into?

Good luck and have fun!

Dean

i put a signature 6 in my OLD fender champion 600, it sounds good, better than most stock 8 inch champ speakers. it may take some coercion to get ted to build it. he said he doesn't do sig 6's anymore, but i convinced him to build me one.

But what about the Jensen?

Thanks guys! The Speaker-Cabinet is a Box made from Solid Pine. I bought it in a Hardwoodstore for 3 dollars today. It is meant to store Tools. But I think it will be the perfect Cabinet.
What do you know about the difference in sound between 5", 6" and 8" speakers?
What about the Jensen Mod 6?
Is it true that a 16 ohm spaeker will be quieter and an 8 ohm speaker will be louder?

Thank you,
Simon
