Peavey Bandit 112 speaker replacements?
From reading most of these threads, I can tell that most guys here are into tube amps. However, I have a SS Peavey question: I recently bought a used Peavey 112 Black Tolex, silver trim, 80 watts with the 12" Sheffield speaker. Has anyone out there changed speakers in one these? I am not crazy about the Sheffield. A fellow musician suggested a Scorpion. Does anyone who has experience with these have any suggestions?

I'm crazy for the Sheffield.
Stacked up well against an old Vox Bulldog.
So if you don't like it, steer clear of the British camp of Celestion or Weber Blue Dog. Never owned a Scorpion speaker. I tried an old Gauss with heavey cast basket, & it wouldn't fit the baffle (front load). Another thing to watch for. |

Scorpion is nice...
My 80's Bandit 112 is equipped with a Scorpion. I recall that this amp had an option of a Scorpion or Sheffield for a speaker. One for a British sound, the other for American. I've never tried a Sheffield, but gigged with this amp for 14+ years! Very durable.
