question about parallel wiring harness

Hi again,

Sorry to impose once more, I really appreciate the help.

Today I decided to try to put together a parallel wiring harness so that I could run my 4 ohm vibro champ through the speakers of my Princeton Chorus (it has two 8 ohm - checked using multi-meter - speakers).

I soldered everything together, made sure nothing was touching anything it shouldn't be, insulated the wires from each other, and set everything up.

The vibro champ sounded cheap and tinny through the speakers. The speakers normally sound much better when the princeton is running through them. The PC speaker wires were disconnected.

I used this diagram (Parallele hook-up) to guide me: http://caraudio.biggz.com/parallelseries.html

Does anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong?

Thanks!
DT

It sounds like you might have wired one speaker out of phase. Are you sure that you got both the positives together and both the negatives together?

Check to see if the speakers are out of phase. Also, I'd wire the harness more like this:

Jeeze Louise! I forgot about out of phase. I wired the harness itself correctly, but I applied it out of phase to the speakers. I just finished switching it around and it sounds, I think, the way it should now.

At low volume the P8R in the vibro champ still sounds better than the 2 x 10s in the Princeton Chorus. Tomorrow I'll crank it and see what happens.

Thanks guys.
