"I got my Winfield workin..."

and man what a nice amp. I got it a few weeks ago but untill yesterday I had only played it at home (and those 18 watts is LOUD!!!). Yesterday I took it out for the first gig and it sounded fantastic. It puts out some loud 18 watts (didnt need to switch it into 30 watt mode despite a loud drummer :D ). IMO it sounds just like a good Plexi-Marshall should sound when driven hard without the earsplitting volume. It cleans up nicely when you work the volume-knob on the guitar. It loves my pedalboard (Cry Baby with Fulltone mods, Line6MM4, Keeley modded TS-9, Trex CompNova compressor, BJFE Dyna Red Dist and Pink Purple Fuzz and Ernie Ball volume pedal) and my 1965 Strat sounded awesome through the Winfield. All in all the the Winfield is a fantastic amp and it didnt cost a fortune. I played it through a 2x10 home made cab with Celestion Vintage 10s but I think I´m going to get me a 2X12 cab for it.

If you like the Plexi-sound but dont like to kill people with your stage volume, the check it out:

PS:

It has been said before, but worth mentioning again, Winnie is about as good a guy as a person could deal with. Glad you're amp is working out for you.

You should hear it thru 2x15....

OMG!!! I played my 18 watter thru a 2x15 cabinet that Winnie built when I was up at his shop... amazing.... sounds great thru 2x12 Celestion V-30's also. I actually swapped out the 12" Celestion Lead 70 in my combo with a 30 watt Weber blue dog. This speaker sounds amazing with this amp...

I´m planing on getting me a Weber Alnico Blue Dog and one Ceramic 1230 for my cab, but I might settle just for the one Blue Dog and have a smaller cab. I kind of like the portabillity of smaller stuff (I´ll turn 40 next year ).

Somehow I knew you'd like it. Am I psychic? No. These are sweet little amps.

Yep, you had a lot of good things to say about it but you where absolutely right in what you said. It is a verry fine amp. In fact I havent had so much fun playing in a long time as I had this past weekend playing my Winfield :D . I´m planning to use it together with my (heavily modded) Fender 63 Vibroverb RI using a A/B-box but I will have to re-arrange my pedalboard first.

LOL, me to dude. I love my little Winnie, and for the price it was a STEAL. It's all I gig with nowadays. We played a gig with another band the other night and these guys had 2 Marshall stacks, I watched them humping their rigs in like 4 trips... and here I come in one easy trip with my axe on my back and swingin my little 1x12 with 2 chords and modded BD-2! After we got off the stage they were like "WOW, that amp has the tone... and it's LOUD!" I had to laugh because these guys were decent players but they were using so much gain that they were both washed out on leads. This amp was easily one of my all time best purchases... and now that I have the Blue dog in it I'm in love all over again!

John,
You said it man. All time best purchase. I have played mine with a 2x12 with blue dogs which is nice. I wish you would stop talking about that 2x15 cab tho. I really don't need to be carrying one of those around! I think he's got some fairly hard to find jbl's in there too.

Steven,
Congrats on a great purchase.

That's great! 2 years later I am still very happy with all my WT endeavors. I've got the Winfield, the Brat, and the blackface Bassman that Winnie modded. Of course now I'll have to get the 5e3 someday.

Yeah I'm a real amp junkie I guess. Jus can't help myself. I get more excited about amps than guitars. I have had very few guitars comparatively.
