speaker recommendations for pro junior?

What do you guys like for replacement speakers for a pro junior.There's not a lot of room in there either,do most 10"s fit? The Weber Blue Pup seems to get mentioned a lot.What else do you like?I 'm actually asking two questions here.What single 10" replacement do you like ,ALSO what other speakers/cabs do you like? A lot of you PJ users use 1x12"s and 2x12"s. What do you like in that format as well?

not a pro jr but i replaced the stock speaker in a princeton reverb with an alltone 10. this is my 1st speaker swap so i don't have alot of input. all i can say is it made the amp sound warmer & the cleans smoother & better.

people here seem to like them & they are pretty reasonable at around 30-40$

I have two tweed PJ's, one with the brown ceramic speaker, and one with the blue frame alnico, like those in the Bassman RI.

I like the stock Fender blue frame alnico. It's warm and compliments the break-up of the PJ circuit.

I find the stock brown frame cleaner, louder, maybe better for a little more volume or definition.

I put a Celestion Vintage 10 in mine and it was wonderful. I miss my Pro Jr.

I have a blue frame Pro jr ('93). I considered changing the speaker...but I swapped in some JJ EL84's and a JAN 5751 in V1 and a GE 12AX7 in V2. Whoaaa...., very nice and a real improvement to my floppy ears.

I have a 95 PJ w/ the brown frame speaker. Tried a Jensen P10R reissue. Swapped the brown back as I kinda preferred it. Ted Weber recommends an AlNiCo Sig 10S for the PJ.

My buddy's older tweed Pro Jr. w/ the blue alnico sounds sweeter to me than my Pro Jr. w/ the brown ceramic, which ain't bad at all... gets a bit raspy past about 3/4 volume though...

I have Reverend Alltone 1025 10" 's in a '63 Vibro reissue, wonderful sounding speaker for 40 bucks. I'm considering one of those for the Pro Jr. I've read one comment that the Alltones are actually manufactured by Eminence, can't say if there's any truth to that.

Eminence makes the Alltones as well as David Allens speakers.
I really like the Allen 1045.
He is selling "pulls" for $20.

I hate to sound like a dummy, but what are the "blue frame", and "brown"? I just bought a used "94 that has a black frame speaker, with a brown label on it. Enlighten me.

nogin, those two speakers are different animals. Your brown label ceramic has more spanky punch, more headroom, & has tighter bass. The blue alnico compresses & clips quicker, has more of a creamy breakup, is a bit friendlier in the high end when pushed hard, & has a looser, spongier feel & response. Pros & cons to each, depends on what you want.

Just got my PJ back from my tech today. It received new JJ's & some tweaking, looking forward to giving it a spin on a session tomorrow.

Its our poor terminology. We're talking about the color of the label, not the actual frame.

Actually, the frame itself on my early 90's Pro Junior speaker is blue.

Thanks for the replies. I understand you now. I put an alnico speaker in my Vibro Champ, and like the sound from it. For now, I like the Pro Jr. as it is. Thanks again.
