Anyone built a flightcase..
.... for their combo? I bought a Crate Stealth GT50 combo a couple of days ago, and I really want to make sure that it stays in the nice condition it's in now (almost mint). The problem is that all the flight case manufacturers will want over £200 minimum to build one. I was wondering if anyone had baulked at the idea of commercial cases and built their own, and am looking for tips/advice on how to do it. (I'm sure Fuzzy's built a couple in his time... he seems to have built just about everything, and that rescued Tele neck was astounding!)
Thanx in advance, Ron

case for amp
I built one some years ago, if you are handy with tools and wood it shouldn't be too hard.
I used plywood and aluminum 90 degree angle stock, screwed and riveted together, seems like I used some solid wood like a 1 x 2 for the inside seams to reinforce them, when it was done I lined the inside with foam, used latches to hold top to bottom, casters on the bottom. I don't know that it would qualify as a "flight case" like an Anvil, but it was good for the amp that I had at the time. |
